Building Resilience: Preventing Diseases of Despair

The Catalyst Initiative of the Minneapolis Foundation invites you to join us on Tuesday, September 18th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the 2018 unConference Building Resilience: Preventing Diseases of Despair. Please join us as we explore strategies for primary prevention of addiction and suicide. Building Resilience is an all-day event centering community voices, emergent research, and trauma responsive approaches to supporting individual and collective resilience, hosted in the model of Intentional Social Interaction. Professional development certificates are available upon request.

If you are receiving this invitation you have been identified as someone who should receive a scholarship to participate in this critical unConference. You have also been identified as an individual who might know someone who could use a scholarship or might like to invite someone to attend. Attendance is $125 per person if you do not have a scholarship. Since you have been identified as a scholarship candidate, there is no charge to participate. We will make every effort to provide scholarships to those you believe should be in the room as well. Scholarships are generously being provided by the Catalyst Initiative of the Minneapolis Foundation to ensure that there are no barriers to attendance by any participant.

What to Expect:
Expect to be enlivened, engaged and to expand your understanding and commitment to fostering primary prevention, consumer education and use of non-pharmacological approaches to pain management. The morning will focus on “Naming the Issue,” while later in the day, facilitators will guide a focused luncheon conversation to “Harvest the Connections” and a collaborative afternoon strategy session designed to “Catalyze Action.”

Join us for one segment of the day or for the duration of the event! Together we will capitalize on existing energy, make new connections and build momentum as we share an abundant feast. If you are receiving this invitation you have been identified as someone who will add and receive extraordinary value through your participation in this critical conversation.

We are specifically seeking a vibrant cross-cultural mix of participants from every sector. If you know someone who will add and/or receive extraordinary value through their participation feel free to reach out to someone across race, class, culture, professional affiliation or age and invite them to join you!

A complete feast is served with abundance to allay any dietary concern from vegan to halal to carnivore using the Marnita’s Table model (www.marnitastable.org) of a resource abundant environment. You are the guest of the Catalyst Initiative of The Minneapolis Foundation and there is no charge to participate because you have received a scholarship. Please dress comfortably.
